Openness and transparency.
Our Tipico sports betting offices.
Since 2012, I have been the managing partner of a growing chain of sports betting offices operating under licence from Tipico, an international sports betting provider. Even though it is a franchise, I have striven to give the individual betting offices a face of their own. A face that puts people at their ease. In this industry in particular, it was of prime importance for me to ensure openness and transparency from the outset. This begins with the choice of environment, is reflected in the clean, bright surroundings and is echoed in the specially trained personnel, who are always happy to advise customers.
Just like a neighbourhood café
At the time of writing, I have no fewer than 16 of these betting offices, which I have turned into veritable social meeting points. Places where people’s love of sports meets one of the oldest passions of our species: betting.
Our typical customers are in the prime of life, with a career and a family.
“I used to love the idea of an elderly married couple sitting together in one of my sports betting offices, chatting away to one another and watching an exciting football match while enjoying a good cup of coffee. Barely a year later, my dream had come true. I had succeeded in turning my betting offices into places where people come together socially – just like they do in any normal café.”

Countering the risk of addiction
People who place bets on their computer at home are isolated and, in some cases, in danger of developing an addiction. In a well-managed betting office, by contrast, the owners and their staff know their customers, keep an eye on their behavioural patterns and are able to identify potential problems and to talk to and advise the customers in question. In this spirit, we refuse to accept bets if we feel that doing so is in the customer’s best interest. As part of a social concept, we also have a designated player protection officer and a digital warning system.
Legalisation paves the way for further market growth
In Germany, between €20 and €30 billion is spent every year on sports bets – a number that is on the rise. One of the obvious reasons for this growth is that, having been legalised some time ago, betting is attracting more and more new customer groups. Thanks to its special concept, BARS GmbH was able to benefit from this, chalking up steady growth over the years. Rather than resting on our laurels, we are constantly honing all of our services so that we will be ideally equipped for the future as well.
